Everytime my dad plays it, I can't even access the web from the router - and I have a 4mb cable....

Are you sure the router is config correctly? BF2142 needs a bunch of odd ports in order to run properly.

I had disabled Universal PnP on my router... Could that be a problem?

first of all why is your DAD playing it and not YOU?

maybe cause the game sucks...

Anyways, I agree that BF2142 shouldn't be your problem because it has run with lower pings than Bf2 on most people's computers.

The most fun i ever had playing a BF game was VN, playing with the faggio bikes and running planes into their towers while we played capture the tower. We'd punji stick the ladder up to the top, the put caltrops everywhere. Knife fights too.

Damm EA ruins it for another potential customer (me) not because the game is buggy and incomplete.

The gaming community needs to boycott this crap and give EA a clear "No", until they remove it.

That disclaimer should be on the front of the box. I suspect that most customers found out aftering opening the box and then returned the game.

I doubt the online ads thing can suck so much bandwidth...

BTW, it's not very nice to get to see that EULA after buying the game. But they will get away with it, you can bet.

You'd think that selling their souls to the ad companies by putting advertising in game, would at least make the game cheaper. Instead, EA gets to pocket your $49.99, and the ad revenue. We get screwed either way, and EA's not even kind enough to give a little reach around.

Actually this hasn't been fully tested in the court system.

If you do not agree to that flyer, legally they would have to refund your money. A contract, by (abbreviated) legal definition is an offer and acceptance. Also, there has to be consideration. Of course there are several other factors such as competency of both parties (i.e. you can't enter a contract while you are a minor or you are heavily intoxicated or you are under duress [someone is pointing a gun at your head]), the contract must not have illegal terms (i.e. murder for hire), etc...

Consideration means that one or both of the parties is receiving a measurable benefit or detriment (usually consideration = $ for at least one of the parties).

Consideration was given once you paid for the game (you gave them money and they gave you a game). However, because the entirety of the offer was unknown to you before acceptence, the consideration that you gave the other party is recoverable. This is known as a remedy (remedies are technically when one party does not live up to their obligation and has to assume a penalty). However, its arguable that the offer was known to people or organizations interested in the product (maybe they published the ad information on the internet) and you didn't bother to look it up. That is the grey area.

btw, IANAL (I am not a lawyer), however I got A's in all my BLAW (business law) classes and I am personal friends with several lawyers and lived with one while he was going through law school (& helped him study).

ninja edit: I just found a great Wikipedia article about basic contract law. I think that a bunch of business classes should be required by all people seeking bachelors degrees. No matter what you end up doing, it will always involve business somehow. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Contract_law

edit 2: I hope all the readers understand that I am talking about the USA court system.

That's all very interesting.

Actually, I only meant they will get away with it as in "most people won't give it a second thought and will buy anyway" - of course, you can get a refund, but most people are sheep. We have to live with that.

But if it made you post that, so much the better :) I will keep that in mind, we will probably hear about this in the intahwebs for a while.

Well the problem is that most retailers WONT REFUND YOUR MONEY for any opened software, because you could have easily written down the license key and copied the software to a DVD or CD.

But like I said, this hasn't been fully tested in the court system. This is because, from the consumers perspective, its just not worth it to sue them.
