Might I make a small suggestion:

Download fragOps, it's a full CS style mod for UT that is decently fun. At any rate, I'm going in now.

I'll look into that at the first opportunity. Might not get to it this weekend, though.

Any chance, that there will be games tonight since tomorrow is Labor Day?

Unbelievably I could play at decent frame rates with Normal settings at 1024x768 on this Mac Mini :)

That is hardly a surprise, UT2K4 was never a huge GPU whore. It just demanded a faily beefy single-core CPU + DX7-class GPU to run. I believe you Mac Mini has a GMA 950 which is about as fast as Geforce 4 Ti4xxx series maybe it is closer to R9600, due to DX9 support. ;)

Strangely enough, I was just trying to get on. I love letting the bots stomp my guts out.

You got them turned to 11 or what?

Sorry fellas, a thunderstorm fried the WAN port on my router yesterday. I thought that the problem was with the local ISP, and didn't figure out the real issue until this morning.

I've got one of my PCs acting as a router now.

The concerning thing here is that my router was connected to the Internet through my UPS, which should have stopped any power spike.

I've actually had a router die through a surge protector as well. It was an old Linksys B Router.

Do you leave the server open all week too, or just Friday/Saturday?

I don't clearly remember, but I think I left it up all week. I shut it down late Friday night/early Saturday morning.

Everything was working hunky-dory yesterday afternoon. Along comes a storm, a particularly loud crack of thunder, and presto! - no internet (only LAN).

I'm heading out to Fry's to see about an 802.11n router and a new UPS.

I wouldn't go replacing that UPS just yet, unless your CAT5 came through it as well. It's entirely likely that the surge came in via the CAT5. I know that most DSL/cable modems are designed to pass through surges, rather than eat them.

Yep, the CAT5 went through the UPS (a Belkin that had good reviews when I bought it 2-3 years back). After this little incident, I've lost confidence in it, so I picked up a new APC Back-UPS XS 1500.

I also picked up a new DLink DIR-655 802.11n Gigabit router. I'm working on getting NAT up and running on the UT2004 server now.

Well, it never connected, and I no one was on LJA's, so I'm back to halo2 8)
