Best Game Ever?

Mon Dec 03, 2007 6:11 pm

Well i guess i should be saying best games ever. I'm obviously in the market for any amazing game i can get, and thats what this thread is mainly for. I know all the blockbusters (bioshock, crysis, etc.) but i want to know that...and more. So tell me your top 3-5 favorite games, yes you can put some blockbusters, but maybe some nicer twists too? thanks everyone =D

Don't think any game has ever made me feel the way I did when I played Ocarina of Time on the N64. It's probably lost some of its shine nowadays but still probably the best game ever made.

Top 5..hmmm

I'n no particular order

Neverwinter Nights2

UT3 (I love this game but I'm not happy with the maps on the game I'll be waiting for the modding community to make better ones. They left out Facing worlds for gods sake...)

Batlefield 2142

EmpireEarth 3

...now... X:Com I havent played these games in years because my copies were damaged in an accident. I wish I could get my hands on new copies.

EDIT Oblivion... How the hell did I forget that one?!? this is my fav game of all time hands down.

Master of Magic
Zelda: Windwaker
Full Throttle
Chrono Trigger
Final Fantasy 3

I could name plenty more. You guys remember Master of Magic? Used to play it all the time. Great stuff.
I was married in an online fantasy game once. We thought about having children, but it would severely drain my power crystals.

There are a lot.... But right now, Mass Effect. It such a awesome game. And I'm getting kind of sentimental playing it, remembering a lot of old sci-fi flicks (hell, they even got the music right!). It's a sci-fi masterpiece.

Oh, how I wish the new Fallout game would've been made by these guys aswell, instead of those Oblivion dudes. It would've been perfect!

1. Return to Castle Wolfenstein. MP was not great, but Single player was best ever.
2. Soldier of Fortune II
3. Medal of Honor
4. Call of Duty (any of them)
5. Crysis

If you've never played RTCW, you owe it to yourself to give it a try.

Console, PC or any?
I'll just assume any.

Homeworld-Probably the most amazing single player rts campaign of all time. My favorite rts next to TA.
Total Annihilation- My favorite rts :D
Chrono Trigger/Chrono Cross- Best Japanese rpg with an equally good "sequel"
Zelda: Ocarina of Time and A Link to the Past- Best Zelda games IMO
Einhander-Because Gradius is too hard for me and you can actually find this game (there are other great shmups but you can't find them...)
Shadow of the Colossus-Beautiful game that everyone needs to play
Katamari Damacy-Insanity

Thats a small list from me.

It was a great game. It got better six months after release when they finally patched most of the bugs.

1. Planescape: Torment
2. Master of Magic
3. Ico (PS2)
4. Star Control 2
5. The Magic Candle

I was tempted to put Ultima IV or V in 5, but then I realised that The Magic Candle trumps them both in storytelling, combat and game mechanics.

If console games are disqualified, I might sneak the Ultima Underworld series onto the list.
Wind, Sand and Stars.

RTCW campaign was THE bomb.

Here's my list:
HL2
Dawn of War series
STALKER
CnC3
Rollercoaster Tycoon. I refuse to play the newer ones, too flashy for my tastes.
FEAR

Believe it or not I don't like Starcraft all that much. I was never too good at it...and most of the friends that did play it used maphacks. Cheapies. Crysis was fun, but not all that good. Too short in my opinion. And I haven't played Bioshock yet, so I don't know.

Oh man, some of these bring back some fun memories.

I would say:
Roller Coaster Tycoon
Half-Life 2
Knight of the Old Republic (Can't believe no one mentioned this yet!!! I hope the MMORPG rumors are true.)
Diddy Kong Racing
Mario Kart Racing
Sixty percent of the time, it works every time.
