Game Help

Sat Apr 19, 2003 2:44 am

I'm putting together a new computer and have a GEForce 4 Ti 4600 graphics card. Can anyone recommend a game that will show off the abilities of the card?

Show off?

Try almost any game made between 6 and 12 months ago, the GF4 should be in its prime there, as it was undisputed king at the time.

I will dispute the time period of GeForce4Ti 4600's reign. Radeon 9700 Pro appeared on store shelves to depose GF4Ti from the graphics performance crown in August 2002 (nine months ago). GeForceFX 5800 Ultra appeared in very small quantities earlier this month to usurp the throne. Radeon 9800 Pro is on store shelves now and has convincingly taken the performance crown.

Regardless of all of that, any recent game will still look great on a GeForce4Ti 4600. I like Morrowind and Madden NFL 2003, for example. Dungeon Siege looks great, too, but the replay value of the single player game is somewhat limited.

Morrowind:

It's one of the best looking RPGs and is a great game.

Thanks,

My thinking was, the Ti4600 was king about 8 months ago, but there's a lag between when a card is top 'o the line and when games come out that make use of all of its abilities. As programmers have to develop games, and that's a long haul, time-wise.

Not that the Ti4600 is tops any more, just that games written with it in mind are probably relatively recent.
