Is it the original MOO in a remake/reskin, or a grab for cash? I would be much happier to hear it be the former.
What we have today is way too much pluribus and not enough unum.

I'd say that the play of the new MOO is pretty close to MOO2 (which is my favorite of the original trilogy).  It uses current graphics and audio.

Stellaris, again. Now that I've got Skyrim out of my system, maybe once and for all.

On that note, has anyone played Elder Scrolls Online? I've heard good things, and the Beta showed some promise...

Playing through Singularity for the...3rd time now? But this time on the Xbox 360 (first two times were on PC). I honestly think this was a gem of a story that fell through the cracks.

And on PC: Picked up Doom for $18 on steam.

Home alone for a day after NY celebrations.

Firewatch (it's really rather good and it has only just started getting into it the cool bit, I think).
The Walking Dead (never played any of it before, never read any of the comics. S1E3 so far).

Picked up Dishonored 2 and finished my first (low chaos as Emily) playthrough. I really liked it, and I'll be having my fun playing some high chaos now. :D

I owe Firewatch another playthrough. As I remember, it was an excellent example of a story using bare-minimum mechanics to progress, and I don't mean that in a bad way.
On second thought, let's not go to TechReport. It's infested by crypto bull****.

Running through Civ:BE a couple times, it's been sitting unused since I picked it up on a sale. Gotten most of the victories with the default settings for now, not entirely sure that there's more replayability here...

Just Cause 3. I picked a copy up when it was on sale at Amazon, and this game is amazing.

Right now, I'm completely ignoring the story and just running around capturing settlements. The game is a tad buggy, but I've only encountered 1 game breaking bug so far.

Descent (with D1X Rebirth). 1995 seems to have had a clue about level design and AI (!?!) that a lot of modern devs don't, and I'm not finding its graphics bothersome like a lot of other early 3D stuff. It's one of the first games I remember playing as a kid (possibly in '00/'01?), it's living up to the nostalgia perfectly, and I'm now even more hyped about Underground / Sublevel Zero / etc.

Interesting.  I never did get a chance to play anything in the Descent series, despite wanting to, and seeing plenty of commercials.

Random Descent trivia: My son was the speedrunner for the Descent II segment of GDQ this year. I was home sick Tuesday, so I got to watch the livestream. He finished in just over 40 minutes; he was kind of pissed off because he thought he could come in under 40, but encountered an AI glitch in one of the levels which caused a bot to get stuck in a doorway, resulting in the loss of 30 seconds or so.

Ehhhhhhh.......I used to be able to do that stuff in my teens, but speedrunning through an early 3D games sounds like nausea to me.  I'm not even sure how well I'd tolerate Descent under normal circumstances.

Even watching the livestream was somewhat nausea-inducing.

In addition to the 6DOF "WTF, which way is up?" nature of the game, you have a couple of other features that make speedruns of it even more disorienting: The "diagonal movement speedup" works, so much of the time is spent moving diagonally in THREE dimensions; and rotation is fastest about the ship's vertical axis, so turns which are "up" or "down" (relative to the ship's current orientation) are typically preceded by a quick 90 degree roll to reorient the direction of the upcoming turn with the ship's "left" or "right".

Back when I used to play the Descent games, I couldn't handle navigating the levels without mentally treating a particular direction as "up"; if I didn't periodically reorient myself such that "up" matched what was "up" at the start of the level, I got lost. My son obviously has much better 3D spatial visualization than me, since he has no issues navigating the levels at full afterburner speed, even when he's (what I would consider to be) sideways or upside-down.

At least you don't have the "bobbing" motion of DOOM!

Right now I'm playing Diablo 3, the season just restarted, so it's going to be fun a couple of weeks.
I'm playing Pokemon sun & Final Fantasy XV as well, both are amazing.

Stellaris.  I picked it up during the Steam sale.  Games seem to take an epic amount of time.

Its fun is only exceeded by its slowness. I typically use the time dilation feature (top-right corner controls), and then pause the game when issuing commands. Seems to work pretty well.

EDIT: don't use Warp technology, whatever you do. Early game, it has advantages, but later you would be sad.

I like the slow pace of it, actually - it's simultaneously engaging and relaxing. A friend and I have been playing a game together online after our respective kids go to bed, it works really well as a late-evening game with friend(s).

Ah! A Paradox Interactive space explorer? I'll be buying this one. I've been desperate for a new game. Hearts of Iron 2 is one of the most enjoyable strategy games I've ever played.

Glad I came to read this thread today! Slow games, passive AI are ok with me. I like winning and I don't have the time or mental energy to devote to being an expert of new games these days.

The game can be slow, but the AI is not necessarily passive - there are a lot of possible AI trait combinations, and if you're near a fanatical, xenophobic species, you might have some issues. That being said, the game proceeds at a stately pace and can be paused at any time. You can speed up the passage of time, but I'd recommend against doing so until you're comfortable with the mechanics.

What did you expect? This quote is exactly what Dota is. It IS fun, but the number of twelve year old ass-hats playing that go berserk at the smallest things is beyond infuriating.
