Steam Summer Sale 2014

Fri Jun 20, 2014 12:32 pm

Couldn't find a topic for discussions about the summer sale this year, so I'll start one.

Bulletstorm for 5 bucks. Worth it?

I personally havne't played it.

The sale has been pretty undewhelming so far, although I am considering a few. I tried The Witcher 2 a while back, but the tutorial was so long that I couldn't stay interested. At $4, I might just jump into the campaign and figure things out as I go along.
On second thought, let's not go to TechReport. It's infested by crypto bull****.

So far I bought Red Alert 3 for 2,50 and Far Cry 3 for 5 bucks. Never played a Far Cry game, 3 seems like a good start :D

I enjoyed Bulletstorm, as did Cyril. It's fun to come up with new ways/combos of killing.

Just got Dragon Age: Origins and Frozen Synapse. If the next community choice goes my way might get some more.

Bulletstorm was fantastic. I'm not surprised it didn't sell, but it's too bad.

I don't really need anything from the sales this year.

Transistor already had its big discount, but I'd still say watch for it to be discounted again. I enjoyed it at full price!

Meh. All I see is the old crap (some are many years old), all of which I have played before and I don't want to collect any games just for the sake of collecting them. Or needlessly support some extremely lazy, inept developers like Bohemia Interactive and others.

Watching the pre-sales hype from "Pee Cee masterrace!!!!!111" nerds and the YouTube parody videos was amusing, though.

Shadowrun Returns hasn't been bad for the $3.74 that it cost during the flash sale.

Posted this on the front page article also, but is the Borderlands 2 Ultimate Vault Hunter Edition okay for $5, or should I pony up the $10 for the GOTY edition? Not sure what the differences are.

Ultimate Vault Hunter crap is just a level cap increase, the GOTY includes other content like more playable classes and more DLCs with extra content.

Well looks like GOG is throwing out random free games today, already picked up 2 of them so far. Make sure your checking out their sale page, lots of good game cycling through every hour.

Torchlight for free from GOG is a great deal. Torchlight II is $4.99 on Steam today.

Yeah just got it for free myself, they are pretty much demolishing steam on sales, and they have good stuff available too.

Hrm.... Dragon Age Origins for 125% off. Yeah, according to their math it costs -$7.51 for this game.

I wonder how long before that's fixed.

Edit: About 15 minutes it seems. Both Dragon Age Origins Ultimate Edition and Dragon Age 2 got the 125% off error during that time period.

I got Divinity Original Sin from a friend and was surprised - I love it :)

And Battleblock Theater which I already had and loved on the 360, but all my friends are on PC so now I can play it coop.

Yeah, didn't see anything spectacular this year. Picked up some Payday DLC for 80% off though...

Only game I wanted was Stanley Parable, best that game saw was a 60% off promo. The funny thing about steam is most of the games can be traded for with TF2 keys... at even 60% off, it was cheaper to get two TF2 keys and just trade for the game than it was to buy it off the summer sale. Unless it's a top hit or a new release most games can be picked up pretty cheap that way.
