Bought mine via Paypal and I don't see any fraudulent transactions, so I /think/ I'm OK.

HTC Legend (lost)
HTC Legend(cracked screen)
HTC Legend(still kicking)(Yes I bought the same phone three times, I really liked the phone)
HTC One S (broken power button, dropped it seven stories, landed right on the power button, screen didn't even crack)
HTC Desire 601(broken power button)
HTC One (m7)(battery is crapping out, dies immediately when launching an app at 30%)
HTC Pixel 2(It was made and sold before Google bought the Pixel team)

Given that HTC may no longer be a company next time I buy a phone it seems I'm now in the Google hardware camp, which is unfortunate kind of but not really. I liked Sense UI but not the end of the world.

Baffles me how anyone could WANT to stick with Sense UI over stock Android. Honestly baffling.

Since the HTC 10 is practically stock android what's the difference? HTC dumped the custom apps for stock Android and went back to a nearly default UI.

While I will totally admit I haven't used sense in a while, and definitely not on the HTC 10, I honestly hate the way it makes things look (obviously this is personal). I think it makes a lot of things look toyish. Also thank goodness they dropped those HTC apps that they never needed to make in the first place and, for the most part, didn't work as well. I still prefer the Pixel version (and AOSP) to the pictures I just saw of "Sense 8.0" or whichever version they're calling it now. It's just faster and cleaner.

Sense 4 (which was the default on Android 4.0.x devices like the HTC One S and One X) and later was quite different than the old Sense skeuomorphic design. You can definitely see in later HTC devices—I loved my One S and I've played with an HTC 10 in the Verizon store—that they trended away from a heavy UI skin and custom apps towards the Google default apps. I still miss the stock ringtones on the One S. I thought HTC's sound effects were the best, which might sound weird, but the ringtones and notifications on my Pixel are definitely lacking.
I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do.

No, I totally get that. Every time I get a new phone I scour the internet for ogg versions of past ringtones and notification sounds I loved and slap them on my new phone. No shame.

turning off the screen ends the active call because I don't know why someone thought that was a good idea. If I use a headset the screen stays on for the entirety of the call because I guess Apple hates battery life.
The hang-up with the power button, to be honest, I've never noticed that. I confirmed that you are right.

Apparently a recent update fixed this. Hitting the power button while on a call no longer hangs up, but it does turn the screen off.
