Finally it's not Google looking stupid.

But before you get too excited, I know from experience that if you haven't reset your old iPhone or turned off the Find My iPhone service, Verizon won't activate your new one (if you're trading the old one in only). I got a generic error on my Pixel but when I called the automated Verizon help line it told me the problem. Maybe this is user error.

Annnnnnnnnnd right back to Apple/Samsung rubbing it in Google/LG's face. :(

tl:dr - the OLED screen on the iPhone X is the tastiest cheese any gerbil could lust for.

edit: Average Color Error From DCI-P3 Δ(u’v’) = 0.0037....that's pretty ridiculous. Good on Samsung/Apple.

Google still saying that both the clicking and the buzzing are fixable with OTA updats. The NFC clicking is addressed, the buzzing is next on the list:

Honest to God I don't know how these phones got off the assembly line into people's hands. These phones have had more issues in a couple months than my Pixel XL has had in its entire, albeit brief, year-long lifetime. I don't even know what there is to say at this point. I don't know how Google did THIS poorly with the launch of these phones.

If I had to guess. Going with two different suppliers, sizes, materials, etc probably hasn't helped them.

FWIW the weird clicking/buzzing sounds have never affected my particular Pixel 2. I got it on launch day with the launch software and never heard anything. I got in on the beta a couple weeks later, and the second beta hit my phone this morning...no problems at all. I actually really like the device, even if others are having problems. It's a shame that it's hit and miss at all, though.

Same goes for random reboots. The only time it could possibly happen when I wouldn't notice is when I'm asleep. It's been rock-solid, and I'm constantly dinking with it...deploying/testing builds, poking at Twitter, playing games, whatever.

OH but you WOULD notice. Android doesn't boot fully into the OS now. It boots into a "limited functionality" mode until you authenticate.

OK, that's true, I'd have to enter my PIN when I woke up and I don't have to. So I either got lucky or other people are getting unlucky.

Interesting. By what metric?

I love my bezels and headphone jack. I write about them in my diary every night.

Then you will not like the Pixel 3.
