I do use the Google app, but it's very handy to let Verizon download my text history. I don't remember to run backup utils on my phone.
I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do.

Set a schedule! They will do it automatically!

Messages does it automatically, and the second app I linked you can set your own schedule once and forget it.

it would have taken less effort than you put into these posts, and time, to do what I've suggested. :)

Just acquired a 128 GiB Pixel 3 XL from VZW. Absolutely no VZW bloatware. Liking it so far, my only niggles are some of my older apps not yet ready for Android 9, but that will pass. She'll get her first big test tomorrow when I boot her into Nav mode to see an old friend in suburban NJ. I don't need the nav help; this is a test of how it works.
What we have today is way too much pluribus and not enough unum.

Nice. That's a big step up from the 6P.

I suspect you won't have many issues with the nav, but it might drain your battery pretty well. And yeah, Android devs (at least the big boys) are always slow on new Android releases. There are still apps I use on the rare occasion that were clearly built (at least the base) during ICS days. It's so sad.
