Android Music & Video App(s)

I'm wayyy behind the times here, but I'm looking to set up an android tablet with locally stored music and movies. What app or apps would you recommend for both/each?
Main: i5-3570K, ASRock Z77 Pro4-M, MSI RX480 8G, 500GB Crucial BX100, 2 TB Samsung EcoGreen F4, 16GB 1600MHz G.Skill @1.25V, EVGA 550-G2, Silverstone PS07B
HTPC: A8-5600K, MSI FM2-A75IA-E53, 4TB Seagate SSHD, 8GB 1866MHz G.Skill, Crosley D-25 Case Mod

Yup, Poweramp/Foobar/PlayerPro were mentioned in the audio thread.

For video? Heck I don't even know anymore. I used to use MX Player, but rarely watch video on my phone anymore.

What I use:
  • VLC for locally-stored movies.
  • Samsung Music for locally-stored music. I found that the presentation and management of local music is much nicer in Samsung Music than Google Music. Just check that Samsung Music is compatible with your tablet.

I see player pro can play video also. How good is the video playback. Couldn't find what file types. Mp4 and mkv?

Would be nice to have a single app for both audio and video, but if there's separate apps that do each better that's fine.
