copying back from ipod

im just wondering if you can copy back off the ipod using itunes. i want to be able to delete the music off my hdd and use the ipod alone to store it. how can i do this, when i tried to copy it back i couldnt drag and drop... how do i do it ?

I heard that you can not copy it back once it is loaded on the ipod.

It's a big old hard disk, so you can copy them back from the (hidden) iPod_Control directory. The sub-directory structure makes it a bit of a challenge to find a specific track.

You can also do it with third party apps, like ephPod -
Foldin' foldin' foldin' keep those folders rollin'
