Thanks a lot for your help guys! Any more views out there?
Also, I was thinking about exploring the mac option, because I love the smaller one and its only $1000 and it'll do what I need it to. But my question is, how difficult is it to program on? Can you program asp/asp.net on it? And how difficult is it to learn, and how well does it work with other windows computers on a network?
We sell the Averatek laptops where I work. We have received a lot of good feedback on them. They seem like a good laptop for the price.
On the Apple side - You can get programming software for almost any language and be able to program on a mac. When I took C++ we used CodeWarrior on a Mac - and that was in a classroom!
Apples are fairly easy to learn/get used to. Some things are a bit weird if you are used to Windows. The *nix core is nice, because you can go command-line . For example, I was having a problem getting CUPS (Printing SYstem) to work right with a 42in plotter on a Ti book. We popped into the console and were able to get it set up within 5 minutes.
They will work on mixed Mac/PC networks, even for filesharing, no problem.
