Webcams...

Fri Jul 29, 2005 6:02 pm

OK, I'm currently deciding on a webcam.

My requirements are that it:

Is on a flexible cable OR plugs into the UltraPort on my ThinkPad X21
That it has decent video quality
That it not cost over $10 after rebates, including shipping

It does NOT need a mic - there's a passable one built into this lappy.

I'm currently looking at this one.
Shipping is $6.94.

I'm also interested in the IBM UltraPort Camera II, but can't find any in my price range.

How good is the snake cam I linked to? If it totally sucks (as in, is unusable), can anyone recommend a snake cam in my price range, or link to an UltraPort Camera II in my price range?

I can tell you from experience that for the most part, You get what you pay for in webcams.

The one I have was cheap as all, but man that thing is a slide show with poor resolution and color, as well as terrible interploation any any given resolution.

My camera went up to 640x480 IIRC and its awful. But hey, thats a nice price so why not!
