My friend got a Nikon D200 yesterday, so naturally I tested it out with him. When we were reviewing the pictures, we noticed that there was a 'hot pixel' near the bottom right of one of the frames. JPEG compression made it look like a four-pointed star, but it looked like a single hot pixel. We soon discovered that it was on many pictures, in the exact same position.
When a single pixel in a digicam pic looks like a dead pixel on an LCD, or a hot pixel from a long exposure, and shows up regardless of exposure settings, what can that mean? Dirt on the sensor usually comes out dark, iirc, not bright like this. Could the sensor be defective?
