Kindle to Work with Libraries

Wed Apr 20, 2011 12:36 pm

This is huge news: http://mediadecoder.blogs.nytimes.com/2 ... ss&emc=rss

Basically, the Kindle can finally work with digital books from the library. E-books are finally going to be ubiquitous, working on all major devices. Combine this with the latest news that E-book sales are skyrocketing, things are setting pretty good for the digital books right now. http://www.publishers.org/press/30/

Good news indeed for Kindle owners. Now all we have to do is wait until the policy is changed "later this year," and for them to implement the feature to borrow the actual books. Still, it's a step in the right direction.

Better news for libraries really. Finally, the proliferation of the cheapest and *best* E-book device will reach library patrons. A lot of people want to and are willing to try the digital book thing, but they have no need for an Apple/multimedia device and want a cheap, good E-reader.
