D-link router configuration!!!

Hello guys,
I have problem with my sister's network but I don't know how to solve it because I can't access the routers ip address although I can connect to the internet without any problems.

My main problem is that every computer that is connected on this network can only download with a speed of 65KB/s (average), although the connection is a 6Gb/s one. For example I had my iphone and two computers downloading something at the same time and everyone of them would max out at 65kb/s.

The secondary problem is that I cannot enter 192.168.0.1 and I don't know what else to do.

Thanks in advance and I hope there is someone who can help me.

Run ipconfig and see what the default gateway is...that's the IP address of the router.

Also know that you need to be hardwired to the router. Most routers don't allow you to enter the configuration over wireless (by default).

Once you get into the router configuration page, check out the QoS section. I would guess that is what is limiting the download speeds.

I strongly doubt this, double check the speed.

I do agree with JJCDAD though, it sounds like you have some QoS shaping going on with the connection. This could actually be done by the ISP rather than the router itself, but start off by checking the router first.

sry for writing it wrong, it's 0.8 mbps approximately
i found the gateway ip: 192.168.1.1
i just have to ask my sister about the username and password(if she remembers it or i'll have to reset the router and begin from the start)
i'll see and inform you about the results...
thnx

Hmm, if it is only 0.8Mbits per second connection then that works out to 100kBytes per second and with the overhead I wouldn't be surprised if you actually got somewhere closer to 80kB per second which 65kB/s is not that far from. Make sure you are not getting your units confused, if the downloads are at 65kB/s that's fair enough, if they are at 65kb/s that's a problem.

Approximately .8 megabits per second is really close to the industry standard of 768 kilobits per second. That works out to about 96 kilobytes per second. Getting about 65 kilobytes per second isn't unusual at that tier.

megbits per second = Mbps
kilobits per second = Kbps
megabytes per second = MBps
kilobytes per second = KBps

It's really dangerous to have a typo in computer related acronyms. The Apocalypse will come.
