I remember back in 2007/2008 when people were joking about OS X lolcat. Never came to fruition though.

I love cats. Lol. I'm not ashamed to admit it, even as a 35 year old single dad. My two daughters love cats too. :) Their mothers, not so much. :( Then there are the OS X Cougar images showing pictures of 40 to 50 plus women all dressed up to go out for a night on the town to prowl. Lol. Nah, OS X House Cat and Lolcat would have been fun. Maybe the next generation of techies, businessmen, and advertising executives will have enough of a sense of humor to make things like this happen.

OK, is it bad that I kinda want a thneed? And that I'm a 19 year old guy saying this?

Yeah, OS X Cougar... no. I like this one though:

Rats are cute little critters - come on people, pet (fancy) rats are a completely different breed from the wild ones. Took my mom a while to grow to like the ones I had a few years back (tails). Maybe I'll end up with a cat or dog later on, once I'm out of college.

Not to mention the apple bluetooth keyboard is a horrid abomination as well. Great for my 7 year old daughter's hands, but not for grown-up hands. My next order will be a full-size keyboard with Cherry MX switches.

The Apple bluetooth keyboard is a full-size keyboard.

I like keyboards whose keys have short key travel. Apple keyboards work very well for me.

My idea of torture would be to use a keyboard which uses Cherry switches.

For some reason it doesn't seem full size, but then again, the keyboard I used just prior to this one was a Unicom IBM Model M reproduction. Long key travel, buckling springs, and heavy enough to use as a weapon. My mom ended up liking it so much she took it to her office and I haven't seen it since.

I had an IBM model M keyboard before. That was one of the best keyboards I have ever used. I now have a Solid Tek mechanical Keyboard that is similar to the feel of the Model M. No more cheap keyboards for me.

I have a Model M. And honestly, while it may be the real thing, I don't like it as much as my K70 (mx blue). The k70 has a nice satisfying crunchy click to it, there's more key travel (if you want to bottom out, personally I do), it doesn't take as much force, the keyboard is physically lighter (aluminum I think), and it's got media shortcut keys + a windows/super key. The K70 gets used all the time, and the modem M sits in the closet save for showing friends (who are usually impressed with it).

IMHO mechanical keyboards are worth the extra money.

So yeah, I'm still boggled as to why Apple creates such terrible input devices. Bad ergonomics that only seem to be designed for the top 10 percent of the smallest population on planet earth. I'd sue Apple if it gave me carpel tunnel. Ok, not really, but my hand hurts like heck tonight. Don't mind the wet hair. I had to shower after puking my guts out after drinking too much mountain dew today. I've never overdosed like that before on MD. :D

That is a lot of MD. I'll bet you will have a hard time sleeping tonight...

Yeah, I'll probably be pulling an all-nighter. Lol. Oh well, I'll just relax to some Netflix or random YouTube videos. Still have to work tomorrow. I have to be to work early to help load 80-something steers on to semi-truck to ship to sell to a feedlot somewhere. I would play some more World of Warcraft but I don't think my hand can take it anymore. At least I'll be getting my new mouse on Wednesday. :D

While I agree that the Apple mice suck for a large number of typically-sized adult males in the "Western" world, I suspect they are a better fit for most of the 50% of the world's population who are female, and certainly for the 25% of the world's polulation who are under 15 years old ... ofc, that doesn't sit with Apple's typical behaviour of chasing only the potential consumers with the most cash, so hopefully they'll realise and go large on the mice as well as the phones?

Just buy a Logitech mouse.

Apple's mice are the worst sort of badly designed non-ergonomic garbage.

I really like the idea behind the Magic Mouse, but it just needs a XL (Plus?) version.

It has some cool features, but the Magic Mouse also has some bad execution. Right-clicking requires that a user can't rest the index finger on the mouse at all (assuming right-handedness) or the actuation registers as a left click. Not sure about the second-generation model, but the OG Magic Mouse has sharp corners along the top.

The Magic Mouse is not all bad, though. Scrolling both horizontally and vertically by sliding a finger is really nice. The way momentum works is cool, too. By flicking a finger up and down, pages scroll way beyond what they would have with a traditional mouse, but keeping a finger on the mouse allows for precise scrolling.

The problem is that the first paragraph far outweighs the second in my mind. The software is great, but the physical manifestation is just awful.

I never noticed this on the Magic Mouse I used. Maybe I got a newer model?

I don't agree with this statement, as in "input devices". Sure, I'm not a big fan of the mouse either, but their trackpad is stellar. Best track pad on the market IMHO.

I have the original version that takes AA batteries, but it's basically brand new. I got it in September.

Apparently I subconsciously raise my index finger to right click anyway. I'm guessing it's due to years of using Opera's 'rolling' back/forward mouse gestures. I bet I never even noticed that limitation.
