iOS10 makes me nervous. The guy (whoever he is) explicitly mentioned lift-to-wake because the touch ID sensor is so fast (which is welcome), but then he interacts with notifications without ever authenticating. Based on this demo, it seems iOS10 lets me jack with someone else's phone as long as there are notifications on the lock screen.
I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do.

So now it's, tvOS, iOS, macOS, and watchOS?

Yeah, OS X is no more. Back to macOS.

Some of the Swift stuff was interesting, but overall I thought they were trying to stretch out the fact they've got nothing. How long did we listen to emoji and, worse, predictive emoji garbage.

This person is like "hey here's some music, 1...2...3...everybody rock"

/mostly stunned silence and a little clapping for about 3 measures

And then the presenter basically called everybody out for not going along with this stupid demo that doesn't belong at a developer conference. Same thing for the 'tweener iMessage decorations segment that would basically ensure I turn off iMessage on my phone if not for the fact that SMS messaging from the Mac requires iMessage to be turned on.

Also, unlocking the Mac from the watch looks kind of cool, but it's a shame they couldn't wrap the same tech up in the fingerprint scanner on your phone. "scan your finger on your iPhone to unlock your Mac" must be too obvious.

Apple had previously used Mac OS. macOS is new.

I thought Apple already had that feature for the iPhone, but looking for it didn't find me anything expect for some third party apps.

Is the macOS 10.12 Dev Preview under an NDA preventing you from talking about it if you happened across something interesting?

Kind of surprised Apple didn't have anything for a updated Macbook Pro or any desktop/laptop in their lineup, although this was a developer conference.

The only thing I can say is that macOS has not adopted ZFS. :D

I've already made the mistake of trying submit apps to the App Store that were built with beta OSes, even if they used the current official Xcode. Even then, that was a public beta point release that I downloaded to fix iCloud issues sucking down the battery, and I was still blocked from submitting. So I won't be installing this any time soon.

The TR front page article has details that John Gruber had no problems sharing which End User only teased. A new file system to replace jHFS+ is YEARS overdue and they finally bothered to make one.

To late, already seen the front page, and that was the kind of surprise I was looking for in the conference.

The 10.12 Developer Preview installed without a hitch on my 2015 MacBook. Let the vetting begin!
