I can't set my date and time on my Macbook

It running OS X Yomesite

1. Please use descriptive subject lines for your posts, not your forum name.

2. You need the administrator password to set the date.

3. Yosemite is pretty old; if your hardware supports it, I suggest you upgrade to a newer version of MacOS.
Nostalgia isn't what it used to be.

The first line in your post would have made a perfect subject line. It tells the casual forum surfer what question you need answered.
What we have today is way too much pluribus and not enough unum.

When you click the date in the top bar and go to Date & Time Preferences, you'll see a lock in the lower-left. Like just brew it! said, you need to be an administrator on the machine. Click the lock, enter admin credentials, and then change it as necessary.

You might also want to look at the time zone after you click the lock. It could be that the time is fine, but it's for a different zone.
