My wife cannot access her BofA account from the iMac but can from the PC. All other sites are accessible. She used to be granted access via the iMac but that changed when we modified cookies or something.

The browser message is "Bad Request: Your browser sent a query this server could not understand."

The same message is given when attempting to access her account within BofA using Opera, Firefox 1 & 2 and Safari.

Should I call BofA or is this an Apple issue?

assuming bofa is Bank of America, and assuming it's not an IE-only site, and assuming further that she's not following a phishing link, I'd call them.

My wife called and was told to contact her ISP. I don't think that is correct because she is able to connect with the other 2 pc's.

I think it is something internal to the iMac.

Any ideas?

Try another browser?
Check through your security settings in the browser.

I'm not much of an expert on the Mac but:

You mentioned cookies. Did you turn them off on the Mac? A lot of sites don't work correctly if you have cookies turned off.

You also might have a malformed one stored. You could try deleting all the cookies and then try again (making sure they're turned on).

And yeah, you could always try a different browser since each has its own settings and storage.

Well, Safari in Leopard (don't have Tiger handy) has an option from the Safari menu to reset the browser's settings entirely. I'd probably try that.

Its not much help, but I am able to access BofA's site from my MacBook

It just dawned on me to check if she can log into her bank under my computer profile. Low and behold she was able. Now what? What settings in the iMac would deny her access to only her bank under only her profile using multiple browsers?

I'm sure the browser settings are stored per user. Again, have you verified (when logged in as her) that the browser(s) are accepting cookies and the other security settings are consistent with the way you have them set in your profile?

I have but will take a closer look this time. It just seems to be global setting.

Uhm...no. I picked it because it seemed vaguely German and used my last name.

I narrowed it down to the flash player plugin, which makes sense since it is global across all of the browsers. Turning off flash in Firefox (through the add-on window) and clearing the cache allows me to connect to BofA. Clearing cache on all other browsers including Opera does not work. Has anyone found a way of dealing with this without needing to disable flash?

For us it was only Opera on the iMac that could not access the bank. I believe she just uses the PC to access the bank.
