Bottom Mounted EVGA SuperNova G2

Mon Dec 05, 2016 1:04 pm

This PSU is paired with the Fractal Design Define R5 in the Oct SweeterSpot build
The PSU fan is mounted on the side, not at the rear.   So it doesn't vent through the rear of the case, but up into the case.  And in that Fractal Design case the PSU fan would be blowing up across whatever cards (graphics, etc) are mounted.   Is that not a problem?

Huh? Looks like a standard rear exhaust to me. And the G2 is a typical psu config.

I'm pretty sure ALL power supplies with this fan position have the fan blowing INTO the PSU.  Not as exhaust.

Ah, I get it.OP is referencing the bottom-mounted PSU fan config. This is pretty much the standard ATX PSU config these days, and the fan is an intake fan.

Also, the newegg pics show the PSU upside down, so that fan would be facing down in most cases (including the Define R5). It would be intaking air from the bottom of the case and exhausting it out the rear. No airflow issues with this configuration.

Good point.  Yes.  As long as there's a decent amount of space under the case, definitely face the PSU fan down.  There is a fan opening and dust filter in the case for that orientation.  That way the PSU is getting fresh outside air and not hot air from inside the case.

Thank you everyone .   I hadn't noticed that the fan blows in!   Makes sense.
EVGA's instructions are pretty rudimentary and don't say much.
