Second set of eyes

Thu Dec 29, 2016 9:45 am

My girlfriend is inheriting my gtx 970 which requires 6 and 8 pin power adapters. Her PSU has (2) 6+2 pin adapters for PCI-E, and I believe that those +2 adapters can be slide apart to cover my bases. Can anyone confirm this? I don't have the machine with me otherwise I'd just pop it open and look.

So if that's true, I shouldn't need anything else in the way of adapters - correct? Thanks.

I can confirm that's true on the 750W model - the 8-pin connectors are really 6 pins + 2 more that attach to the side. Here's a pic from my **** webcam.

You shouldn't need anything extra for adapters.
I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do.

Nearly all "8 pin" PCIe PSUs use 6+2 style connectors.
Nostalgia isn't what it used to be.

On the Newegg catalog page to which you linked, click on the large photo of the product, then click on the sixth image in the gallery.  It shows the power connectors all spread out, including both 6+2 pin PCIe connectors just to the left of the 20+4 power connector.  You'll be fine.
