New build PC power issue

Thu Jul 27, 2017 1:51 pm

Hello everyone. I was hoping you could help me, with trouble shooting recent PC build with power start up issue.

New build PC power issue description: Mother board powers up for about 30 seconds shuts down and restarts cycle.

During the up time this is what I have observed.

- Activate power on with no drive plugged into power system.

- 2 system fans start also LED on fans start, the CPU cooler fan starts.

- the motherboard has four LED lights that activate in the lower right corner of the motherboard identifying
the CPU, DRAM, VGA and boot.

- Of the four LED indicators in the lower right corner of the board, The CPU LED lights up as power is applied.

- The CPU light and the DRAM light flicker back-and-forth about four times then the DRAM LED light remains on.

- The last 15 seconds of power on the LED light effects on the motherboard will be activated and they remain on.

After about 30 or 40 seconds the system powers down and cycle restarts.

The solution to my power issue was that I had inserted the second DRAM4 memory stick into the incorrect slot. I had inserted into DRAM4_1 & DRAM4_2 while the correct slots were
DRAM4_1 and DRAM4_3. The DRAM LED light remaining on in the lower right hand corner of the motherboard was the clue. Remove one memory stick to test power would remain on and it did.
Then inserted second memory stick into correct slot and all was ok. Now going to setup BIOS and install OS.

I know it’s been some time since this was posted but i wanted to say thank you so much for posting your solution. You saved me many hours of tinkering to solve my boot loop. This was my first build and i had the same problem. all the other forums were saying it was the cpu or bad ram. And i really didn’t want to go down that path for troubleshooting. Thank you so much.

Hardware:
