Which budget case?

Tue Sep 12, 2017 9:19 pm

So i want to spend less than £45, approx $55, on a case with support for a MicroATX MOBO. My requirwments are at least 1x USB 3 header and A window (i.e. not 2). I found these three: Cooler Master - MasterBox Lite 5 ATX Mid Tower Case, Realan E-D3 Micro ATX case, Corsair - 100R ATX Mid Tower Case

Does anyone have anything to say about anything, things i should know about, good/bad experiences? Should i look at different cases? Thanks a bunch!

Welcome to the Tech Report!
In addition to the £40 Cooler Master MasterBox Lite 3.1, have you looked at the £40 Fractal Design Focus G Mini, or the £50 Corsair Carbide 88R? Of these, I would choose the Focus G Mini for its inlet air filters. They will keep evil dust bunnies from overheating your PC.

I don't necessarily have anything to add except to echo JAE's recommendations. The Fractal Focus G Mini and the Corsair 88R cases would be my top picks. All three cases use basically the same internal layout, but the Fractal and Corsair have fan filters.

I ran a Silverstone PS09 (£35 at scan.co.uk) system for 3 years. Had a 300mm GTX 970 in it at some point. Similar option is the PS08, which has better airflow.

The PS09 wasn't as quiet as it was advertised to be, although part of that may have been running a big GPU in it (had a 170W GTX 760 in it at the start). I also wanted more airflow, so dremeled out the fan grille in the front. And it didn't come with a rear fan, so had to add that, too.

The CM Lite is really really barebones,
Corsair's entry level stuff is way overpriced in the UK for the build quality (88R and 100R).

I've been impressed with the quality of Aerocool and GameMax at the under £50 bracket. Have a look at this one, for microATX:
