can you help identify a Corsair case?

Fri Oct 27, 2017 12:49 am

Hi all,

I picked up a Corsair case from an op shop and need some help identifying it. I'm away from home for a few days, otherwise I'd post a pic - apologies in advance!

Externally the case looks much like an Obsidian 800D - same dimensions, same distinctive case feet setup, same unfiltered 3 x 120mm fan positions in the top of the case - but it doesn't have the hot swap bay at the front: both the front panel and the case itself are solid below the external 5 1/4" bays. It also has two solid doors, rather than one being windowed.

Internally the only difference I can see between this case and the 800D is that same hot swap bay - in this case, those drives slide in from the side, much like the drives in the lower caddy, although perpendicularly WRT to lower caddy.

So, can anyone identify this case? Did Corsair ever make a 'silent edition' 800D?

Thanks! I mustn't have been good looking enough while searching because that's the first time I've heard of the 700D.

I don't know what else it could be - The 750 and 900 variants look radically different. The 700D is basically an 800D without the hot-swap drive hatch in the fascia.
Congratulations, you've noticed that this year's signature is based on outdated internet memes; CLICK HERE NOW to experience this unforgettable phenomenon. This sentence is just filler and as irrelevant as my signature.

Yep.

The Obsidian Series 800D and 700D full-tower cases share the same case dimensions, rock-solid construction, isolated cooling zones, and lots of other features that make them truly great cases for builders. Choose the Obsidian Series 800D if you'd like hot-swap SATA drive bays and the clear side panel strikes your fancy; if you don't need the hot-swap feature and you like the look of the solid side panel, the Obsidian Series 700D is for you.

Searching 'Corsair Obsidian 800D without hotswap', and various combinations of terms, only seems to bring up the issues the 800D hotswap backplane had..
