If he perfers XP to OS X then he's probably just inexperienced and unwilling to try new things.

I agree that he should've put Linux on that bad boy--the PPC970 is a sweet processor (i'd prefer it to an athlon 64 for sure--not to mention an SMP system). Of course, I'm probably biased since Linux is my primary OS.

his parents bought him a brand new g5 and he couldn't afford a better motherbored. i dont think i can cmpletly believe this story

Anyone that would take a good looking new machine like that and hack it doesnt like computers...he hates em....he is just gettin a rise outta a few.

If he had the brains to buy Virtual PC for what, <$100?, he'd have a DAMN FAST PC and would still have the other parts for a second one. 'tard.

Tons of people responded only to find out the whole thing ended up as a prank on Overclockers and the story really didn’t happen like the author said it did. Ed has updated the article to let readers know what happened:

Are the pictures real? Yes. Is it my own G5 case that has been cut and hacked? Yes. Did I give away two G5 2GHz processors (IBM PC 970)? No! So what happened? I got a free G5 shell from a buddy of mine and pulled a prank on a Mac loving friend. He got so upset. I wrote up a little story, my imagination and warped sense of humor kicked in. I sent it to OC.com just to see the reaction. I honestly didn't think it was going to be posted.

No, the guy got an empty G5 case. He didn't get a full G2 system, he just said he did. He later told the truth.

edit: Whoops, I posted this before seeing that there was a second page in which someone said the exact same thing. My bad.
