Depending on your equipment you should look at 400W-500W units (or may be the 380W ones too), I would stick with Antec, BFG, Corsair (the 401-500W filter excludes the 400W models so I'm including all), FSP, OCZ (including all here as well), PC Power and Cooling, and Seasonic.

In the end it is mostly about the total amps from the 12V rails, what kind of components are you looking to power up with this?
The Model M is not for the faint of heart. You either like them or hate them.

Nothing much, its a PC 3+ years old with the PSU just as old (Semprom 2800+, 1GB Ram, Audigy 2, Geforce 6200, 350W PSU [i think]) I know 450W is a bit of overkill for that kind of stuff but I want to leave a little bit of headroom in case the owner want's to upgrade some stuff later and he doesn't have to change the PSU again...

With stuff that old, he'll be upgrading to an entirely different machine, not an individual piece.

No he won't, believe me when I upgraded his last machine it was Pentium a MMX, his PCs always have a life span of almost 7-10 years...
