What's wrong with it?
I'll tell you what's wrong: It's dead.

Red Hat ended development of their distro on Itanium up a few years ago. Extended support contracts for it ended in March of 2017.
At this point I would consider Linux on Itanium experimental with any modern build. No one is doing testing and validation for it so it a far cry when it had enterprise level support.
This was done ~6 months before Microsoft dropped Itanium. However, Windows 2008R2 has extended support going out to July 2017 for the platform.
There are three other hold outs. HP-UX will continue to limp on until 2025. OpenVMS support will continue as an independent organization from HPE and has an x86 port underway. Similarly NonStop has a x86 port in the works too.

I was seeing if you would get the "argument" skit reference.
