I've been tasked with building a sort of make shift server based off of a Ryzen Threadripper 1950X on a GIGABYTE X399 AORUS Gaming 7. I didn't have much say in the parts used, but I've been told this system will be running Server 2012 R2. Now, I know that Ryzen boards don't really play nice with Windows 7. What I'm wondering is pretty simple. Will this Threadripper system play nice with with Server 2012? Anyone have experience setting one of these things up? I'm not a big fan of desktops used as servers for medium sized businesses, but I just do as I'm told. Am i about to come into a major headache here?
