Keller leaves Intel!

“Personal reasons” as in “personally, I think Intel sucks!”

My fingers crossed that he ends up back at Apple :-p

These guys follow the fun projects. Most likely he's getting bored and someone else came along with a more interesting offer.

...or he's finally decided to retire.

Yeah, he's jumped here and there for years, did he ever previously say it was for "personal reasons" as cover?

I mean, retirement is one potential reason, but people usually just say that outright and it's also usually around a "round" date.

So, unfortunately, the speculation becomes a little darker. It's almost like you sort of hope he got bumped out politically, because the other options aren't as good.

None of us are getting any younger, you know?

Yeah I dunno. I'm sure he could retire any time he wanted at this point, but Keller doesn't strike me as a dude who's going to do that just so he can go surfing more, or something.

Here's a fun project : revive Cyrix from the ashes.
NEC V20 > AMD Am386DX-40 > AMD Am486DX2-66 > Intel Pentium-200 > Cyrix 6x86MX-PR233 > AMD K6-2/450 > AMD Athlon 800 > Intel Pentium 4 2.8C > AMD Athlon 64 X2 4800 > AMD Phenom II X3 720 > AMD FX-8350 > RYZEN?

I heard it was an "illness in the family" situation. It would make sense. He's consulting with Intel for a while longer in any case so I'm not expecting him to pop up anywhere for a while at least.

Maybe it was his stepson, a kid named 7nm.

So how about this — Amazon buys ARM, Keller to Amazon.
