Honestly, the difference between the platforms at gaming performance are pretty trivial unless you absolute want the best with no expense spared. Right now, 5950X holds that crown but upcoming 11900K may dispute that. That's assuming you can find them. They are nearly unobtanium (likely for 11900K at launch). Otherwise, 10700K and 5600X (assuming you can find one close to MSRP) are very solid deals without trashing the bank too much. 3600 and 10600K are very good choices for the next-tier down and only are a potential problem if you want consistent 240-300FPS on some titles that are CPU-limited. They will handle 100FPS+ just fine though provided you have a GPU that can drive it.
