I just installed my new Soyo Dragon+ w/ an Athlon XP 1800+. Everything is awesome except my HD performance is crap. I use Nero CDR software to check my drive speed and it is shown as 4900KB/s. Previously I was getting 27500KB/s on my old board with an ATA/100 controller. The BIOS(2BA1) does detect the drive as an ATA/100. I did install the lastest 4in1 drivers, but no luck. Anyone have any ideas how I an get the ATA/100 up to speed again? Thank you.

Solved...Called Soyo and they had a pre-4in1 v4.38 patch...Im back to 25500KB/s. Much better than 5Mb/s. Not to mention, I only had a 20min wait to get through!!!

Hey, that's cool! Whodathunk they would be so helpful...

I just have to brag though, my performance with nero, the raid on a kt7a raid, and an IBM 75gxp is around 36000... It was 25000 before I put it on an ATA66 cable.

WOW! I wonder why my performace is not up to snuff with yours then. I know the 75GXP are fast, but that is crazy if yours is that much higher. I have a Maxtor 40Gb 7200RPM ATA/100 - Have any suggestions for a speed increase?

I have the Soyo SY-K7V Dragon+ with on-board Promise FastTrak Lite RAID with a pair of 40GB IBM 60GXP drives striped in a RAID-0 array.
I ran SiSoft Sandra 2001 and scored something like 43000 (under WinME). The trial version of Sandra wouldn't run under WinXP, so I don't know if that performance carries over today.

Ah! I'm only running with a single drive. Maybe I should look into getting another 40Gb'r and do a little RAID action. Thanks.
