Have you guys seen any reviews that show these new processors at true gaming resolutions.. I want to see if there is any further benefit at 1920 x 1200 and 2560 x 1500 etc etc.... YEAH YEAH I know these are GPU not CPU resolutions but the only way I'd want to invest my hard earned Benjamins into this new platform is if there are any real world benefits at real world gaming settings Crank up the eye candy... I don't care about low res results!

Kyle and co @ The Hard/OCP usually does this but they dropped the ball... Please provide links.

Well, as you noted, at such high resolutions you're bottlenecking on the GPU anyway, so what's the point of throwing more processor at it?

I want to see if any games are still CPU limited at gaming resolutions with at good gpu, and will still benefit from more CPU power.

I just picked up rig with an AMD Phenom 840 aka Athlon II X4 @ 3.2ghz and did a small overclock (now at 3.5ghz) and want to make sure that it is taking full advantage of my GTX460 1gb. (oc'd to 800 core)....

SPECS: AMD Athlon II X4 @ 3.5ghz, GTX 460 1gb oc'd to 800 core, 4 1333mhz ram, 42in 1080P LG LCD HDTV. 550w psu Win7 Ult 64

You should read through these two Polish reviews. *edit* Both only have 1080P reviews, damn.

That's two of the more useful Sandybridge reviews out there, which says something about the state of most of the CPU reviews out there (not useful at all).

Considering precious few games even use 4 threads to make a quadcore usefull, it will not provide a significant boost over your 840 at those clocks. Where it does shine is when you start pushing it past 4ghz. Then it starts edging out my [email protected] in some of the games currently played (though most notably BFBC2 imho).

When [H] switches to a sandybridge setup for the next round of GPU reviews then we'll see how much, but I'd say you're still pushing your 460GTX just fine, anything over 3.0ghz should do so.
