Sorry for the noob question first off, but was really looking into trying out AMD's new 8core but I didn't see it listed on my motherboards cpu list, anyone know for sure?
Also under specifications it says this:
AMD AM3+ FX™/Phenom™ II/Athlon™ II/Sempron™ 100 Series Processors
Supports AM3+ 32 nm CPU
Supports CPU up to 8 cores
Supports CPU up to 140 W

by just brew it!
According to Asus' CPU compatibility list, it is supported as long as you've got BIOS 0813 or better installed. If your BIOS is older than that, make sure you flash the BIOS *before* replacing the CPU.

What CPU do you have now? If you've already got a high-end Phenom II the FX-8150 may not be much of an upgrade (or could even be a downgrade if your workload can't take advantage of the 8 cores).

I rekon your phenom II is likely to be faster or very nearly as fast as the FX8150, especially in games. If you need more speed I'd recommend having a play with overclocking, there just isn't a worthwhile upgrade from the phenom II without changing motherboard.

Yup, with a 1090T already in there there's not much point in getting a FX-8150. It is essentially a sideways move; you probably won't notice any real-world difference in performance.

If you need more CPU horsepower, your choice at this point is to either wait and see what AMD releases in the future for Socket AM3+, or get a new motherboard and go Intel.
