how does PHP and HTML work together?

I'm currently using a program to make a website and I want to insert an element that I found on the internet that was writen in PHP into it. is there a way todo this?

I'm using netobjects Fusion 8 and the PHP thinger I'm trying to add is a guest book.

PHP runs on the server. Your server has to be set up to for it (depending on your ISP, this might already be enabled, or you may have to request it, and/or you may have to pay extra on your hosting to get it; if you're hosting it yourself you have to set it up yourself).

the server thats hosting things runs PHP I've even got this thing working by itself in a folding I want to include the stuff that popsup when I type in the address for the hp script to pop up in the middle of a specific HTML page or is that not possible?

ok I figured out what I was doing wrong I was ending with the file extenstion .html I needed .php problem solved
