My Javscript benchmark LambdaStream

Tue Jun 24, 2014 9:40 am

I wrote a small JavaScript benchmark for fun. Try it out:
http://www.rgbench.com/lambdastream.html

LambaStream attempts a very functional looking solution and demonstrates concepts such as lazy pipelines constructed from map and filter etc, and does some runtime specialized code generation too. Details about the benchmark are given on the webpage. At the time of writing (June 2014), FF looks to be performing the best compared to Chrome and IE11 on my machine. You can view source for more details of course.

Nothing too serious, just a fun exercise.

Some results from my machine:
  • Firefox 30: 29ms
  • IE11: 227ms
  • Chrome (latest release): 127ms
  • Java 8 Nashorn (JJS): 512ms
  • Node (v0.11.13): 132ms

There appears to be a performance bug in Firefox in the way it spins the JIT compiler threads so performance in FF can jump around a bit.
