Replacement PSU for sugo sg-08 by silverstone

Fri Jun 30, 2017 10:47 am

So the case manufacturer for whatever reason only insures their bundled PSU with a whopping 1 year warranty. It obviously failed and now I need another one. Their team said I can get up to a 160mm non modular, or a 140mm modular. I was wondering which brand is the best/most affordable or has the best warranty you'd recommend?

I'm open to either modular or non.

My Silverstone SFX power supply is still working (so far). SeaSonic makes the best power supplies on the market today. Your Sugo SG-08 case can accept a regular ATX power supply, as long as it isn't too deep. Something like the $88 SeaSonic Focus Plus 550 Gold SSR-550FX or the Focus Plus 550 Platinum SSR-550PX would fit pretty well. They're only 5.5" (140 mm) deep.

What rock have you been living under? They've been one of the most respected PSU brands for at least a decade, if not longer. Short on marketing, but high on quality.
Nostalgia isn't what it used to be.

Definitely get a SFX and not SFX-L or ATX power supply if you can, if you're inclined to smaller ITX builds. I'm extremely happy with my SFX Corsair SF450 inside Sugo SG13B.

Reminder, a normal 7700/1080 ti build can fit comfortably in 450Watts. FYI, SF450 is 80 Plus Gold rated, so lazy math, it gives 450W to PC but would be pulling 517W from wall.

There are overclocking CPU/GPU scenarios where that's not enough. Those last few FPS/% points increase power usage massively. Not that i ever came close with gtx 1060/i3-6300/6x2.5" drives plus one 140mm case fan. Ive never seen the PSUs fan come on :)

I did hate the SATA drive cable though. But, i've been making my own power cables for cleaner build since almost beginning. So keep that in mind.

edit: almost forgot, only get silverstone pp08 sfx-atx adapter(same as Kingwin KWI-SA-08) if you need one. vents, adds more CPU cooler clearance if its that type of case.

I gave you a link to the 550-watt gold model for $88 at Newegg. Both the gold and platinum efficiency models include SeaSonic's excellent S3FC fan control. This actually shuts down the power supply's fan at low loads/temperatures for silent computing.

I know, but I don't use Newegg their customer service has never been good to me. I'm trying to find it on Amazon.
