I need to replace my 1700xp system and get a decent shuttle cube.
Newegg has the shuttle SK83g for $200. Pretty damn cheap.
They also have a moble Athlon 64 3200 (clawhammer) DTRs for about $20 more than a normal Athlon 64 3200 (newcastle). I'm wondering if anyone has tried this combination before. I'm thinking that the moble's bigger 1L2 cache might be worth the extra 20 bucks however:
I dont know if the SK83g bios will post with a moble Athlon and also if the cpu cooler will sit nicely on top of the cpu. The mobles don't have a heat spreader and are a couple of milimeters shorter.
Does anybody know?
Also a less pressing question about the front grill of the SK83g. Has anyone tried to paint it back? A Beige drive against the white grill will clash so I was thinking of getting a black drive and painting the grill black.
