Problem with Sound card

Fri Dec 05, 2003 4:05 am

I have a Terratec 7.1 Space. Everything was working well last week. Switched the speakers to my mom's computer a couple of days ago then switched the speaks back to my computer tonight and I have problems.

When I play DVD's the sound is good for the first 3-10 seconds then I get a very high pitch and constant sqeaking noise.

wav files are the same. At first the sound is okay then I get the squeeking noise.

Avi files play video but no audio.

MP3s only give me static.

I'm hoping it isn't a hardware problem.

Any ideas?

You sure it's not your speakers? You could always hook the speakers back to your mom's PC and try it again. Either that, try to get another set of speakers to test on your PC, see if the problem recurs. Make sure the jacks are plugged into the right places.

Thanks for the suggestion.
Reinstalled the drivers to the sound card late last night and everything is okay now. Apparently the drivers were the problem. How they got messed up I have no idea. I installed a scanner but that was the only thing that I changed. Could the scanner mess things up? Seems very strange to me.
