Quiet Keyboard & Mouse

Thu Jun 15, 2017 12:34 pm

I'd like to minimize the noise when I'm gaming late at night while my girlfriend is sleeping in the same room. Any recommendations to silence the clicks?

Honestly, the Mac chiclet keyboards are pretty damn quiet and are better than many membrane-style keyboards in terms of feel.

I have a bunch of clicky keyboards (MX brown, green, etc) though, so I'm a bad judge of what constitutes "quiet".

If you need a quiet mechanical, there's nothing better than the Topre RealForce 87USW (silent version). This very pricey tenkeyless has the quietest and smoothest keyswitches I've ever come across. Even the space bar can be depressed ever-so-slightly, for a nearly quiet but still reliable key press. The regular keys are practically soundless if they aren't mashed until they bottom out. My wife ignores it completely, she no longer complains and just falls asleep while I'm banging away.

Oh good. I'm not the only one who thought of that.

Logitech G13 - quiet with lots of programmable keys with a design that doesn't get in the way of mouse (..and is more comfortable because of the hand separation).

(..I personally prefer the mechanical blue switch gaming pads, but they are far more noisy.)

-I've no idea about mouses, I only use the Logitech M570 - and it is a bit noisy (with low intensity/spl but high pitch button click). Once you get used to it though, it's just a lot faster w/ cursor-positioning than a traditional mouse.

Logitech offers two different mice that are supposed to be quiet: http://www.logitech.com/en-us/articles/silent-mice

There's also the Nexus SM-7000B: https://www.amazon.com/Nexus-Technology ... B004FKBZ8M

In fact, if you look on Amazon there's a number of fairly well reviewed options (nearly all are off-brands I've never heard of), some of which are even gaming mice: https://www.amazon.com/slp/quiet-click- ... be4gypy7j6

Here's a couple of lists of a few different keyboards that are supposed to be on the quieter side:
http://www.quiethomelab.com/best-quiet-keyboards/
http://www.soundproofingtips.com/best-q ... or-office/
You'll have to do some digging to find out if any of them are actually quiet enough.

I also have the M330 Silent Plus, its click action is very quiet as well. It's actually easier to hear it sliding across the desk's wooden surface. It lacks side buttons, though. Between it and the Topre tenkeyless, my station goes silent when needed.

get the G402 you can get it off silentmice dot com! Sorry m8 can't post links it's silent click, very quiet. Most of the noise I make with this mouse is from tapping my finger too hard or my nails hitting it or sliding it across my icemat. Adjustable DPI 500-1000-2000-4000 the 500 dpi is great for fps shooters and 4k is great for games like league imo. It has a gaming chip in it so you know the sensor is precise and accurate. It has 7 buttons and a RGB Breathing LED light which you can turn on or off. For a keyboard go for the Cherry MX Silent if you are set on a Mechanical. If not go for a ultra thin keyboard they are usually much quieter. Good luck!
