About the Dell PowerEdge 2900

Fri Aug 25, 2017 11:33 am

I have a Dell PowerEdge 2900. The blue indicator indicates that both power supplies are OK. Now all of a sudden it is very light blue almost invisible. Does that mean there is a problem? It's not orange.

Dell's manuals only indicate that 'blue' means good and 'amber' means problem. But since a 2900-series server is nearly 10 years old at this point, the electronics that drive the front panel may just be wearing out. If this server is currently in production, it might be time to upgrade it before something important fails.
