help with usb device please

Fri Jun 22, 2018 1:13 pm

I got a used monacoOPTIX usb device and my computer won't read it. I tested it on someone else's laptop and it did show up. I have usb 2.0, 3.0 and 3.1 on this computer and they all read other devices when plugged in. I really want to get this thing to read on here and I don't know what to do.

I know this is simplistic, but have you tried using different USB ports on your machine?

I'm on windows 10. Also, I got it to read the device finally. I had to uninstall and reinstall the usb in device manager. Now here is my next problem. I get a blue screen when I try to update the driver for the usb device. I have read elsewhere where people have this problem. They said to connect the device to a usb hub. All I have are the back usb ports from the board and the front usb connections on the computer case. It has blue screened on both.

Powered USB hubs sometimes help when your laptop can't supply enough power for the device from the port. It would be a cheap thing to try.

Yeah, powered hubs are great for all kinds of things. I had a KVM that wouldn't work stably unless it was powered by the hub, because it drew too much power. I'd definitely give this a shot.
I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do.

I ordered the hub. Now I have to wait. I have a hub, but can't get it to work though.
