Hello Comrades

After a long time on loan I have gotten back my old trusty Acer 1810t, a post-netbook, pre-ultrabook that had many fans in these parts aside from myself. It's still running like a little firecracker, thanks in part to an OCZ Vertex SSD that I swapped out the HDD for. It's running Windows 7 64 and is perfectly serviceable for chatting, web, streaming, light office work, etc.

Has anyone tried putting Windows 10 on one of these? There are no Win10 drivers on the Acer site, but there seem to be many folks out on the webs who think that windows 10 runs rather well on similar old hardware, if not specifically on this model.

Thoughts? Experiences?

Sold my 1810t to my BIL a couple years ago, so it's been a while, but IIRC I did upgrade that one to Windows 10 without any issues. Typically Windows 10 will run on almost anything that runs Windows 7, and usually with a bit less overhead due to the lighter-weight UI. The one catch with a laptop is that the extended function keys may not all work as expected.

AFAICT Microsoft has finally ended all avenues for the free upgrade of an existing CoA, though, so you would need to at least pick up a Win10 OEM system builder license off eBay or somewhere before it will activate.

I have the similar Acer 1410 (likewise with an OCZ SSD) and it ran Win10 just fine for the brief time I had it on there. Not fast by any means, but about as well as Win7 ran.
