Gaming Laptop

Thu Jul 02, 2020 10:42 am

Hi my 17 year old daughter wants a gaming laptop. Will use for gaming, graphic design, some video editing, and school work via Google classroom. Will use into college years.

We are considering the Dell M17 as configured and listed below. I also respect the Asus brand. Anyone link the Asus equivalent or recommend something else I should be considering?

Thanks in advance for your help and guidance!

I think 17" is too large if mobility is a goal.

I'd go for something cheaper, but I don't know if cost a concern. I also don't like the combo of $1750 and only 1 year warranty.

The Asus RoG Zephyrus G15 and G14 are good-looking gaming laptops with GeForce RTX2060 GPU, Ryzen 7 4800HS or Ryzen 9 4900HS CPU and 240Hz IPS 1080p screens.
The G14 (GA401IV) is $1450 at Best Buy:

The G15 (GA502IV-XS76) is $1400 at BHphotovideo and ibuypower, but it's $1700 at Amazon:

· R7-5800X, Liquid Freezer II 280, RoG Strix X570-E, 64GiB PC4-28800, Suprim Liquid RTX4090, 2TB SX8200Pro +4TB S860 +NAS, Define 7 Compact, Super Flower SF-1000F14TP, S3220DGF +32UD99, FC900R OE, DeathAdder2

I spent several years humping a 17" lappy through airports. Very sub-optimal.
What we have today is way too much pluribus and not enough unum.

Don't know if a good deal, but I like better the price/features ratio here:
https://deals.dell.com/en-us/mpp/produc ... ID=4485850

$1150

15" 1920x1080 144Hz ("WVA"?)
i7-10750H
Geforce 2060 6GB
512GB NVMe SSD (need to check if there's also a 2.5" bay)
16GB RAM
68 W/hr battery
Full keyboard (but small arrows, and I'm not sure what's the Ctrl/Alt/Shift/Win/Context/Fn situation)

A Gaming laptop has a dedicated graphics card which is also referred to as GPU. Most PCs that are not meant for heavy-duty works have an integrated graphics card. Every user, especially tech-enthusiast uses this as the line between ordinary laptops and gaming laptops. If you want an affordable gaming laptop the here is the list of best gaming laptops under $1000 -
