New monitor + vid card

Thu Mar 03, 2005 3:50 pm

Looking at the samsung 990df (the all black model) for 185.00
Looking at the geforce 6800gt (leadtek) for 377.00 (paying 100 less than that, selling my 9800).

Anyone heard anything bad about these? So far all reviews are positive and im in desperate need to get rid of my dual 17"ers that both have massive color problems, the 19" at 1600x1200 ought to be a nice change up. And at 185.00 i just might buy a second one.

Would the 6800 have any problems running 1200x3200 in a dual setup? I have the deskspace and I use so much desktop space for all the stuff I run, especially when editing stuff. I have illustrator and adobe side by side with dreamweaver and premier tabbed. I previewed the montior at a local bestbuy and wasn NOT impressed, but it turned out to be a defective model... went to another bestbuy and it looked very sharp. colors were vibrant and sharp. A little tweaking and I'd be happy.

So will it work though?

The graphics card looks fine, I'm going with a Leadtek, myself; although, I'm getting the 6600 GT. And, I looked at the monitor and it has insane resolution. I'd say it seems fine. Let me know how the monitor works out, I may change from the one I was planning to get to this one.

Will do, I just want to make sure running dual 1600x1200 for a combined 3200x1200 will work correctly. Does anyone know?

I'm doing 1600x1200 * 2 on a passive 9200SE at work with no problems.
