Help: Memory Expander or extender for DDR or SDRAM?

Wed Aug 03, 2005 2:33 pm

I am still using P3 w/PC133. I like to increase the memory to 1GB from 256MB. HOwever, my motherboards memory slots are all full.

Is there any memory extender or expander where i can piggy back more memory modules into each memory slot?

i have a bunch of pc133/pc100 128MBs I can use, but no slots to put them.
MATX board w/ via chipset w/1.5G capacity capable.

thanks.

How about for DDR modules?

No and no. The only thing you can do is ditch the memory you have and buy new, higher density, modules. And you've kinda missed the boat on that, PC-133 bottomed out a year or two back and now has risen in price.

Your likely at the limit your puter can handle anyway so nothing to do but upgrade puter. You could prolly find a new 3 ghz celeron or amd equive for 350 bucks that can be upgraded to 2 gigs. AND that includes the 17 inch montor they include in mnay puters in a box...
If at first you dont succeed use a bigger hammer.

Yah, or dig around on E-Bay, lots of people ditching similar machines and/or memory. May get lucky, probably too risky though.

another thing you have to watch out for when upgrading a system that old with a intel chipset on it is the fact that some of there chipsets cant handle the newer high density memory . i ran into that problem when upgrading my parents system a couple of years ago . i think its the 430tx chipset but dont quote me on that .

Thanks everyone for the feedback.

P3 1.2G is working just fine for what I do: net surfing, email and office work.

Playing Pacman once in a while is good enough for me. :)

Cheers!
