They have to get one first. Then it take a day or two to properly review it.

Jeff's had one in the lab since the 17th at least.

In saying that, I'd expect the TR review to be far more than just benchmarks like all the premature reviews around the web. Even Ryan at AT only released benchmarks, stating that the full review is to come.

What matters is that the first GTX 1080 driver with feature support was only released two days ago. I'd expect a least a week of journalism-ing to cover that properly. If you want a rush-job review with none of the new architectural features explored, there is a huge wealth of narrow-minded, second-rate reviews with performance figures and nothing much else - all you have to do is Google GTX1080 review ;)
Congratulations, you've noticed that this year's signature is based on outdated internet memes; CLICK HERE NOW to experience this unforgettable phenomenon. This sentence is just filler and as irrelevant as my signature.

That's a good point you brought up about the new driver for the 1080 Chrispy_. I rather wait for good and properly done review instead of a quick and half-assed one. It not like most of us are going to go out and buy one anytime soon anyway.

Not for a founders edition, anyway.

Yeah, I have a feeling Computex is getting in the way. Kind of bad timing on NVidia's part.

The problem now though is that Jeff is in Taiwan covering Computex and won't be back for several days, then there's time needed to recuperate. We probably won't be seeing a TR 1080 review for another week at least. I think perhaps an error was made with regard to time management. Let's hope Jeff makes this the most thorough review on the web or there will have been no reason to wait this long. Might as well roll up the 1070 review into one at this point too. Heck, toss in an AIB card review or two with some thorough dissection of overclocking potential and analysis of where the limits are and then you've got a piece that was well worth waiting for.

I think we all understand the situation. I mean, if I had gone to Macau with my Asian bride I'd need to recuperate afterwards also. :P

Also keep in mind that's been out of town since the end of last week and will be out for at least a few more days as he was in Macau for the AMD event and is now at Computex. That's going to delay any detailed review. :(

I'm cool with it. As long as they beat the custom AIB release somewhere in mid-June then the review will be out before I part ways with my money. So all good.

Might as well include the Radeon Fury Nano review in the wrap-up. Surely it's almost finished by now.

I think that Nano review needs to cook a bit longer before it's done. ;)

Maybe in time for Vega?

So what do these delays at TR and AT mean? Are TR and AT going out of business? Scott and Anand leaves the ship and everything goes to ****. Makes me sad that these once highly regarded tech-sites are not doing their job anymore.

I don't care if drivers aren't good enough. Then just review it as it is. I don't think anybody should be pardoned for bad drivers.

Nothing more than that it's difficult to do the grunt testing work on a review from a hotel room in Taipei. Just as Damage always did the grunt work for GFX reviews in his day, I'm pretty sure that Jeff will want to do the same here.

I don't care about the timing of the review, I care about the quality of the review.

Patience grasshopper. It's not like the review is going to change wether or not you buy one RIGHT NOW anyway.

I do like the idea of adding brief benchmarks to the "In the Lab:" posts - it's always really nice to see early data.
A great example is this "first look" that Jeff did last year:
Here's a first look at the Radeon R9 Fury X's performance

That may be an opinion. I'm sure NV is getting a lot of attention at Computex for the 10 series.

1070 review are out at this point. At this rate RX 480 will be reviewed before we see any reviews here.

OT, but I would probably get a gold subscription again if any 3-5 of Jeff, derFunkenstein, the, chuckula, SSK, JBI, Ned, Welch, whm, Chrispy, etc etc made a Gerbils Of Tech Report podcast. Just saying.

(I know I am missing a bunch of people even just from this thread, but my point stands)

Anyone buying one of the limited 1070 or 1080 at this point does not need or care about reviews.

You want to upgrade a year old 970/980, you dont need a review.
You dont care about AMD's answers, you dont need a review.
You want one of the very few launch stock, you dont need a review.
You absolutely must buy a dGPU right now or will die, you dont need a review.

Am i missing anyone?

Sure. People who want considerate, in-depth analysis in order to determine which card is right for them, rather than to make an impulse/e-peen buy.

TBH I'm rather disappointed by the lack of output. Jeff posted 9 days ago that "there's light at the end of the tunnel" and again (this weekend, I believe) that it should be out any time now (though admittedly I can't find that post). If the author is getting paid for his work, at some point he needs to produce. We're a month into TR having a 1080 sample. I could've written the review for them in that amount of time even if I was only working on it in my spare time.

I realize the above my sound harsh, but it's only my opinion. I'm not suggesting anyone lose their job or any such thing, just that people's patience only goes so far...

That's fine, but it's also not what you said in your previous post. You talked about people with 970/980 wanting a new GPU and thus not needing a review. I disagree, because that's precisely the predicament I'm in. I could go buy a 980 Ti @ Micro Center right now for $435 or I could wait until 1070 is actually available for almost exactly the same price. I've got lots of data http://techreport.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=117968 but more never hurt anyone and that is only average FPS, not frame times nor minimum FPS. If TR's review has these data points I absolutely want to see them before I make my decision.

Hopefully TR will be over the "ramp up period" of the new staff members soon. Until then, poking them won't do a whole lot of good.
