1070 valley score

Fri Mar 10, 2017 1:22 pm

Ever since I bought my Asus 1070 a few days ago I have been getting bsod and artifacts. Never had any problems with my 970. I ran a valley benchmark and everything seemed fine but my score seems a little low compared to others. Anyone else care to share their scores, thoughts. Unigine_Valley_Benchmark_1.0_20170310_1253

Can you tell us what kind of artifacts? It would help narrow down the issue.

Then again, if it's a new card you might as well RMA it since it sounds like something is wrong.

What's your power supply? Could it be going bad? Can you put the 970 back in and see? Power consumption is around the same between the two.

Following the power topic, are your PCIe power plugs solidly connected on both ends, card and PSU? I ran Valley on my system. i5-7600K and GTX 1060 6GB, with 1080p monitors.

1080p, DX11, Ultra, Single Monitor, OFF anti-aliasing, full screen = 116.7 fps, min 44, max 216, Unigine score 4882

same as above with 8X anti-aliasing = 67.2 fps, min 34.5, max 130, Unigine score 2812

1080p, OpenGL, Ultra, Single Monitor, OFF anti-aliasing, full screen = 107 fps, min 42, max 192

OpenGL with anti-aliasing at 4x starts out at ~75fps.
Be careful on inserting this (or any G34 chip) into the socket. Once you pull that restraining lever, it is either a good install or a piece of silicon jewelry.

I have a 1070 in a system at home, I'll run Valley on it tonight when I get a chance so you can compare. But I'd agree with others - artifacts and bsods indicate a hardware issue. It could be a failing part, a power supply unable to keep up, a heat issue, or any combination of the three.

Just ran it. System is an i7-6700k @ 4.6GHz, EVGA GTX 1070 SC. Used the "extreme HD" preset like derFunkenstein did.

FPS: 95.5
Score: 3994
Min FPS: 33.8
Max FPS: 187.6

Card stabilized around 72C and a GPU clock of 2GHz. Those ASUS cards have one heck of a heatsink/fan on them so I would expect it's able to hit the same clock speeds if not higher.
