TLDR: when will it be a good time to buy a graphics card?
Ethereum has to crash in price drastically or otherwise become unappealing for GPU mining. Unclear if ASICs will ever come out for ETH. This Proof Of Stake stuff they keep talking about may have an impact at some point since I think that's supposed to make GPU mining less effective.
So yeah, no one knows. A good bet may be to get a GTX 1080 at right around $500 if you just don't want to pay above MSRP for a good card.
Honestly, best overall bet may be to get that 6gb 1060 and put it to mining when you aren't playing. If this goes on long enough you'll make decent cash that should cover the markup on the card. Just use Nicehash Miner and convert your BTC into gift cards using Gyft. It's what I do. Made $90 in Amazon gift cards so far on about $15 in power costs.
