So picking up a new Asus 1070ti. Is there a difference between "their" drivers and the one's from Nvidia? I've always just grabbed whatever Nvidia had for drivers.

Don't use OEM "drivers" for anything but BIOSes. End of story. Get your drivers from Nvidia/Intel/AMD/etc. (FWIW, laptops are generally a diferent story but I'm talking about desktop parts here)

Thirded. Reference drivers from the manufacturer of the chip used on your motherboard or card are almost always more current. Check the chip maker's site first, and use their drivers if they are available and newer than the OEM's.

Uses asus drivers at first, if it cannot work, try to download it from NVIDIA.

No, stick with the tried and true advice-givers above. And if you're running W10, just put in the GPU, be patient and watch Task Manager sorted by CPU time. Eventually you'll see Driver Installer Module and Nvidia Installation Container. That may be October 2107, but it's recent and WHQL and still better than any software that's ever passed through the hands of Asus, and I like their hardware.
